Real Talk With White Allies

April 3, 2018 by Alexander Gee

Dr. Alex Gee shares two new segments where he talks with White people about their experiences with issues around race. In the first segment, Things White People Want to Know, Dr. Gee answers a question from filmmaker and sound engineer Jeremy Holiday about how to address and teach our children about race. For the second segment, Work That White, Dr. Gee has a conversation with Tyler Nylen about how he came to be a white ally and what he is learning through the African American History Course.

Pain is a part of life, unfortunately. You and I need to decide if we’ll be broken or wounded by our pain. Broken people find something of value in their pain and seek to make others . . . and themselves . . . better. Wounded people are often victims and usually look for people and situations that affirm their sense of victimization. Life is too short to waste it blaming others for anything! Let your pain catapult you someplace new —don’t get stuck in it.
